Kolob Canyon is the northwest section of Zion National Park with a separate entrance. JJ and I like Kolob Canyon for it is more compact, easily accessible and few visitors so we can enjoy the scenery without competing for parking spaces.
Lured by even more spectacular vista with a 360 degrees view from " the point", JJ and I braved the unshaded and unpaved trail of 1 mile round trip hike.
The view did not improve much, but we were rewarded by meeting a family from Maryland who were vacationing with two pre-teen children.
It's approximately 30 miles round trip from Kanarraville to the top of the canyon where vehicles are permitted. During our afternoon visit, we met Marvin & Grace from Buffalo, NY. Marvin, a retired high school teacher explained to me why Concord grapes grown near where they reside is perfect for Welch's Grape Juice.
Mack and Suzanne are from the nearby town of Hurricane. They came up to test drive Suzanne's new car.
This was a full, productive day. JJ got Honu ready for our travel tomorrow.
We spent some pleasant time this evening talking with Reginald and Lydia who were taking a break from their work in Las Vegas.
