Arizona

Aloha Everyone,

Arizona is 6th largest and 15th most populous state in the United States. It has borders with California, New Mexico, Nevada Utah and Mexico. The desert climate is a popular destination for "snowbirds" who come to spend the winter months.

After we drove from I-17 to 101 then I-10 W, we started to see Saguaro cactus.

Not even 10 o'clock and the outside temperature climb is already 95 degrees F.

Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores is a chain of more than 140 stores and gas stations located across the USA. Every time we pull into one of their locations, it reminds me of the Love's Bakery in Honolulu because the logos are very similar.

Not all the land in this part of Arizona are dry or barren. Healthy crops of corn are growing.

J.J. and I are train lovers. Although our favorites are steam locomotives and Shinkansen, but even watching crate trains made our hearts soar.

J.J. tried to race the train so I could take the photo of the engine.

We stopped at a park area on I-8 so that J.J. could take a quick nap. We found it to be a very harsh environment with an equally harsh message to motorists.

Using our Passport America guide book and our sometime reliable SIRI, we arrived at a RV park in Yuma, AZ.

The first RV park we looked at was too hot, too dry and had no big trees. We decided that it would be too uncomfortable to spend the night. Luckily the one next door has many mature trees.

Chuck, the night manager even drove us around in his car so we can choose our own "shade".

Arizona nicknamed as the Grand Canyon State" has many natural beauty and attractions.

These trees are the reason for our choice of this RV park. Temperature is still near 90's at sunset. But we are comfortable inside at 73 degrees F.

Aloha -- Cathi
