Aloha Everyone,
Happy May Day and Lei Day! This morning was a breakfast on-the-go.
J.J. and I've been away from the island for only 10 days, but it feels like we've been gone for a month. In this short period we've experienced absolutely perfect late spring weather, rain, gusty winds, and today a near record-high temperature.
The good news is that the interior of my Mother's house is always cool. Compared to 92 degrees outside, it was only 78 degrees indoors and I was comfortable wearing a long-sleeve shirts over my yoga pants.
Big news around here is the announcement by Toyota Motors regrding closure of its New York Corporate Office along with manufacturing headquarter in Erlanger, Kentucky and relocating both facilities to Plano, Texas.
Sales & marketing complex with aproximate 3,000 employees in Torrance, CA would also be impacted when the move is expected to be completed in 3 years.
On the personal note, JJ and I are slowly equipping our RV in preparation for our independent RV adventure meaning no more hotels or motel stays and staying with families. Our target date to begin is within next 5 days.
I should be reading manuals on our RV but instead I am engrossed in The Intelligent Investor - Revised Edition by Benjamin Graham. My son lent this to me. I was just going to skim through and pick up a couple of good ideas and return it to him but now I'm hooked. If Warren Buffett says, "By far the best book on investing ever written," I certainly should devote some time to learn a thing or two. That's the beauty of being on a sabbatical. I can treat myself to pursue something new.
Aloha -- Cathi
