Trader Joe

Aloha Everyone,

Trader Joe is a specialty retail grocery store that was established in 1956.   Today, Trader Joe grocery stores are in nine states: California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.

Many product sold in Trader Joe are comparable to the items found in Whole Foods, but the pricing tend to be more reasonable.

I recall when J.J. and I were dating, we would go to the Trader Joe in Pasadena for lunch.  In those days their clerks wore colorful Hawaiian shirts.

Today, J.J and I are like kids in a candy store when we enter a Trader Joe's.  We have to conscientiously restrain ourselves or else we want to fill our shopping cart with a variety of vegetables, fruits, cheese and yogurts, and, for J.J., the meats products which more difficult to find in Hawaii grocery stores.

This morning, all of my breakfast items this morning were purchased from Trade Joe.  Also, our daughter-in-law prepared a wonderful (and artistic) lunch for our granddaughter from food from the same store:

California is the top agricultural producer in the U.S.A. including fruits and vegetable crops such as strawberries, blueberries, avocados and almonds.  The continuing drought has cost the state nearly $5 billion.  It is depriving the state of water needed to produce everything from milk, beef and wine as well as vegetables and fruits.

One note about driving our RV to shopping centers is that we have to be aware of its parking limitations. For example, we realized that the Trader Joe's parking lot in La Jolla limits a vehicle height's to 8'8".  Our RV stands tall at 9'10".

Aloha -- Cathi
